A bedroom mural inspired by trees and native Irish birdlife.

A mural depicting various characters from children’s literature commissioned by Gaelscoil Fuinseoige – a new Irish-speaking primary school in Dublin.

A private commission for an 8×3 abstract canvas to be painted on site in a naturally lit entrance hall in south Dublin. The emotion was to be calming, almost spiritual and it was to give a sense of being hit by sunlight from the skylight one story above. During the design phase we were inspired by the animal paintings of UK artist Gill Bustamante. Once the design was agreed, it took three days to complete.

A private commission of a calming seascape.

I recently worked with the Art department and TY students of Coláiste(s) Eoin and Íoságain to design and build the set for West Side Story. We worked closely alongside Tomás at Stage Lighting Centre to nail the final look and feel of the scenes. Note the multi-purpose back-lit ‘split’ down the centre of the backdrop which includes a set of removable ‘wings’ to turn it from a split to a cross for the play wedding sequence (see central image below).

The Jet song.

America.

Quintet.

The Rumble.

One Hand, One Heart.

End.

A feature mural in gold paint.

Wood from recycled palettes make a strong backdrop to the big screen in this TV room/kitchen/diner. Note the detail around the plug sockets and the added backlight thrown back onto the wall at night. The cupboards below the TV were repurposed kitchen units with new paint finishes. The doors were adapted to allow remotes to function without having to keep them open. The wooden boards were individually painted to blend with tones and colours used in the rest of the house.

Everything in this image is trompe l’oeil (fake/painted) wood and stone except the floor.

Restaurant mural.

Conservatory mural.

1920s style poster privately commissioned as gift to the owners of the boat Ruth II.

Mixed media wall feature. Note: this is inspired by an image of an anonymous artwork supplied by the client. I’m happy to credit the maker of the original if I find out who it is!

The Comeragh mountains which I painted for a client in Waterford.

Portrait of Flow.

Portrait of Bailey and Willow.

Various personalised hurleys.

Tiki bar in Lagos, Portugal. Raw and recycled timber and bamboo variously painted and treated for a warm and friendly Hawaiian type feel. Note the trompe-l’oeil mural behind the open ‘shutters’ on the back bar. A really rich and multi-textured space.

A bit of fun for fans of ‘Stranger Things’.

Our treehouse in Dublin – more of a house with a tree in it! Apart from a couple of important structural pieces, it’s made entirely from recycled decking and anything else we could find. It straddles the wall between ourselves and our neighbour’s garden (we have the best neighbours in the world). Built last summer by myself, my two sons and our neighbour’s son.
